A (Mostly) Complete Guide to Exploring Barcelona: Cheetah Girls Style!

2/3/22: Hi yall! I logged into this blog after a while and saw that this post was getting some views. Just wanted to say welcome and (shamelessly lol) plug my remix of ‘Cinderella’ up on YouTube! It includes The Cheetah Girls, i5, and Play (headphones recommended for split audio): x (2021 better version lol: x)

10/24 edit: Happy birthday Adrienne Bailon/Houghton!

10/16 when I accidentally posted this: It’s fall and I’m finally posting this! I started writing the actual post during the summer,  but (as you can see) it’s taken me months to compile pictures and research and I think I’ve pretty much memorized the script of Cheetah Girls 2 by now. Anyway, I hope this guide is helpful to anybody that stumbles across it!

I spent a lot of this past June watching my favorite Disney Channel movies. If you’ve met me in real life, you’d know that Cheetah Girls 2 is towards the top of that list, if not my most favorite of the DCOMs. I love the music and dancing and overall energy of this movie. I love how it makes me so desperately want to experience Barcelona for myself.

While everybody was travelling for their summer break, I was doing research. I wanted to create the complete guide to a Cheetah Girls’ Barcelona, and I think I came pretty close!

According to their wikipedia, everything was filmed in Barcelona, even the scenes in New York.

School – Sala Albeniz | The main detail to look for were the sides of the stage and the face of the lady near the ceiling.

Galleria’s Apartment – I couldn’t find where the exterior was shot, but the inside is confirmed to be on a stage set.

Airport – Aeropuerto de Barcelona-El Prat Airport | As I am writing this, I have read that there were protests in the airport earlier today (October 14). I’m still reading up to educate myself on the situation, but regardless, I wish everybody safety and peaceful resolution.

The Lookout – view of Magic Fountain from Museu Nacional d’art de Catalunya

“Strut”

-Palau Dalmases Flamenco

-The Streets of El Born

-Parc de Montjuic | It’s a whole park, so the stairs are a little tricky to pinpoint, but I’d explore the whole place if I was there anyway.

-Museu Nacional d’art de Catalunya/Placa les Cascades

-Galeria Montcada

-Park Guell

-Passeig del Born

Luc’s Villa – Finca Mas Solers | The place that started it all. Check my search history from a few months ago, and it’s all “cheetah girls 2 villa” or “marquis de soler” or what-have-you. Thanks to a great source (listed at the end), I finally found it. And it’s a wedding venue.

Festival Audition Theater – Palace of Catalan Music | Do you see this ceiling???? Beautiful.

that random clip – Bishop’s Bridge | It’s so weird. After a commercial break/scene change, there’s this random three seconds of a grainy and out-of-place clip of an alley with a bridge LOL

Aramet’s Studio –  somewhere on Passatge Mercantil (near El Born Cultural Center)

Joaquin’s Dance Studio – Teatre Coliseum (on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes) | I can’t find a picture of the actual studio area, but the exterior balcony with the ornate columns and windows line up.

Dancing Cat – After roaming the streets of Google Maps, I think I found at least where the exterior of the Dancing Cat was filmed. Later on in the movie, when the girls return their money, Angel is in this alley with columns and I pretty much followed that.

Lola plots, Let Marisol have her chips! – Parc Guell

Beach Party – La Cupula Garraf (Garraf Beach) | Maybe I’ll eat at this restaurant one day when I have the money, but for now, I’ll just be at the beach.

Train Station – Estacion de Francia

estacio-franca

cafe with Lola and Marisol – Yeah… not many clues to go off of. I was thinking this was a set, but the tiles on the wall just seemed so organic. Anyway, I guess this gives us an excuse to go restaurant hopping all over Barcelona.

lol gimme fry

dressing hall – St. Agata (Agatha) Chapel | It’s right next to Placa del Rei!

Barcelona Music Festival – Plaza del Rey/Placa del Rei

One of the best feelings in the world is when things match up, not gonna lie. I felt like a super-sleuth through the whole process, doing research and looking for details to solve the mystery of “where in the world is this???”. I’m going to link a few pages that really helped me jump start my search, as well as a map of the places. Thanks for reading, now go out and explore!
